Feadship launches project 686, now named Savannah
The 273.95ft /83.5m Custom motor yacht ‘SAVANNAH’ was built in 2015 by Feadship. The yacht’s interior has been designed by CG Design and her exterior styling is by Feadship & CG Design.
Savannah’s interior layout sleeps up to 12 guests in 6 rooms, including a master suite, 1 VIP stateroom and 4 double cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 26 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. Timeless styling, beautiful furnishings and sumptuous seating feature throughout to create an elegant and comfortable atmosphere.
Savannah’s impressive leisure and entertainment facilities make her the ideal charter yacht for socialising and entertaining with family and friends.
She is built with Steel hull and Aluminium superstructure. This custom displacement yacht also features ‘at anchor stabilisers’ which work at zero speed, increasing onboard comfort at anchor and on rough waters. With a cruising speed of 12 knots, a maximum speed of 17 knots and a range of 6,500nm from her 170,000 fuel tanks, she is the perfect combination of performance and luxury.

The yard claims Savannah is the first superyacht to feature a combination single diesel engine, three gensets, batteries, propeller, azimuting thruster and a streamlined hull shape. Feadship’s project 686 leaving the yard Feadship’s project 686 leaving the yard “It is not the individual technologies used on Savannah that are new in the yachting world – it is the way they have been combined,” says the owner’s project manager, Ted McCumber. “Feadship has leveraged on all the options available in the marine industry today to bring this hugely innovative system to completion. “The possibility to choose between diesel, diesel-electric or fully electric is truly exceptional. Moreover, Savannah is the first yacht in the world to be running with an azipull and a variable pitch propeller. Only Feadship engineering and the rich experience of this yard could have successfully concluded a project of such scope and vision.” Feadship’s new 83.5m superyacht Savannah Feadship’s new 83.5m superyacht Savannah The builder says the combination is extremely energy efficient, offering fuel economies of 30%. Further innovation can be found in the accommodation, in the form of a floating superstructure, an underwater lounge and open aft deck areas. Inspired by the 2010 Feadship concept Breathe, Savannah is said to be a demonstration of a cost-effective and cleaner mode of propulsion for superyachts. Feadship has built Savannah with a dynamic hull shape and a very fine entry, giving a comfortable ride for passengers, quite apart from the fuel efficiency benefits. She uses one efficient medium-speed Wärtsilä main engine instead of two higher-rev diesels, with a single central propeller shaft installation on the centreline and three gensets.
Savannah is a yacht that presents herself differently from various angles and if seen bow-on only, the judges remarked that the straight lines of her exterior seemed completely at odds with her curvaceous interior architecture.
Yet yachts are truly 3D things and soon the cascading curves of her aft decks became apparent, as did the smoothness of the metallic seafoam-green profile — which bears no lumps, bumps or glass seams — and matches the sleek contemporary nature of her interior architecture. Just as the dark, tempered glass appears as an unbroken line on the exterior, the interior hides window frames within sleek architectural features.
There is no sense that any area of the yacht inside or out has less stature than any other and stainless steel is used inside and out. The custom treatment for deck furniture and exterior lighting was also part of the detailed design approach. The fact that one hand guided both interior and exterior made for an uninterrupted aesthetic vocabulary and harmony unequaled by any other contenders.
