ULYSSES 107 meter explore yacht by Kleven.World premier at Monaco Yacht show 2016.
The superyacht commissioned by New Zealand businessman Graeme Hart, is the first private superyacht build undertaken by Kleven. The Norwegian family-owned shipbuilder, which is better known for its commercial vessels, announced the giant explorer superyacht order in March 2013.
The Ulysses 107m explore yacht project includes a pool, a helipad, a helicopter hangar, and a 69-foot (21-meter) tender stowed on the bow. It’s interesting to note that Ulysses also is intended for 60 passengers.
It’s further interesting to note that Kleven expects to deliver the 381-footer in July 2016. That’s similar to the planned two-year build for Ulysses. It’s an aggressive build schedule, based on Kleven employing modular construction techniques. Widely employed in commercial construction, this involves sections (modules) of the vessel being built simultaneously, a time-saver.
“Drawing on our extensive experience in building complex offshore vessels, this new vessel type designed and built for Mr Hart serves as a great example of how close cooperation within the Norwegian maritime cluster brings the industry forward and into new markets,” said Ståle Rasmussen, CEO of Kleven.
Mr Hart, being an experienced yacht owner, has been to the yard a number of times and has followed the building process in Norway closely.
“I am very pleased with the quality of the work that has been done by Kleven, and how our organisations have worked together to bring this exciting project to life. I am very much looking forward to seeing both vessels being finalised,” Mr Hart said.
Marin Teknikk was responsible for the exterior design of mega yacht ULYSSES, with interior design by H2 Yacht Design. Once completed, she will accommodate an amazing number of 60 guests in maximum comfort. Designed especially for long expeditions in rough waters, she boasts such notable amenities as a helicopter landing pad, helicopter garage, swimming pool, as well as a large 21m tender on the foredeck.
The builder’s commercial roots have influenced its first superyacht. The Kleven hull 366 is designed by Norway’s ship design company Marin Teknikk, who has previously worked with the builder on its offshore, commercial vessels.
Ulysses is designed for long-range passages in the most testing of sea conditions and will have oceangoing capabilities fitting of the Ulsteinvik yard’s heritage.
Kleven said the 107 “blends a robust, hard-working character with luxurious added extras”.
Making use of her ample size, Ulysses can accommodate 60 guests over her seven decks. Amenities will include a helicopter landing pad, helicopter garage and a swimming pool. The yacht will also host a large 21m tender on the foredeck.
